The Fantastic Four are making their big return to the big screen, but the first teaser for Fantastic Four: First Steps is causing a stir—and not for the reasons Marvel might have hoped.
What’s the Deal with the Fantastic Four Teaser?
Marvel Studios dropped a short teaser ahead of the full trailer, and while fans were excited to see the new cast—Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach—something else grabbed their attention. The teaser features a “retro-futuristic” vibe with 60s-era cars, clothes, and TVs. But it wasn’t the visuals that got people talking.
It was the sound.
The Kids’ Laughter That Won’t Quit

In the 20-second teaser, kids are shown gathering around TV screens, excited to watch the Fantastic Four’s space launch. The phrase “Prepare 4 Launch” flashes on the screen. It’s all very nostalgic—until you notice the same stock “kids laughing” sound playing over and over.
Fans Express Their Disappointment Over the Teaser

As soon as the Fantastic Four teaser hit, the internet exploded with reactions. Some fans just couldn’t get over one thing: the constant “kids laughing” sound effect.
One fan, @FilmLover47, tweeted:
“Seriously? They played the same kids’ laughter like three times in a 20-second clip. Felt super lazy.”
Then there was @MovieManiac, who cracked a joke about it:
“It’s like they only had enough budget for one laugh sound, so they just looped it over and over.”
Even the more die-hard fans who were excited for the movie weren’t too happy about it. @HeroHype13 tweeted,
“I’m hyped for the new Fantastic Four, but that kids’ laughter just didn’t sit right. Why play it so many times?”
What’s Coming in the Full Fantastic Four Trailer?

Despite the backlash, fans are still eagerly awaiting the full trailer, set to drop soon. Expect a deeper dive into the 1960s-inspired world, with Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm prepping for their iconic space mission.
The full trailer will likely show more of their powers—Johnny’s fiery “Flame On,” Sue’s invisible force fields, Reed’s stretchy abilities, and Ben’s rocky transformation into The Thing. Fans are also hoping for a first look at Julia Garner’s female Silver Surfer and maybe even a shadowy glimpse of Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson.
One thing’s for sure: the next trailer better have fresh sound effects.
Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25.
