Is the Fantastic Four Trailer Marvel’s Biggest Risk Yet?

The wait is over! Marvel finally gave us a first look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and fans are freaking out.

A Fresh Take with a Retro Vibe

Fantastic Four

Set in a cool, retro-futuristic version of the 1960s, the trailer introduces us to Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm—aka Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are stepping into these iconic roles. But here’s the twist: unlike past Fantastic Four movies, this Fantastic Four trailer skips the whole “how they got their powers” story. They’re already superheroes, and everyone in their universe knows it.

Galactus Makes a Huge Entrance

The trailer doesn’t spill much about the plot, but we do get a peek at Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson. He looks spot-on, straight out of the comics. And just when you think it’s over, the team shows up in their classic blue-and-white suits—hinting this might be the most comic-accurate Fantastic Four movie yet.

New Faces, Big Rumors

John Malkovich

John Malkovich pops up in the trailer, but no one knows who he’s playing yet. Some say he might be Red Ghost, a quirky villain from the old comics. Julia Garner is confirmed as Shalla-Bal, the Silver Surfer, and she’s all smiles about working with the cast, calling them “phenomenal.” Other big names like Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles are in the mix too, but their roles? Still under wraps.

What’s Next?

Director Matt Shakman says the film has a “retro-future ‘60s” vibe, focusing on space exploration. Actor Joseph Quinn called the script “brilliant” and “compelling,” and whispers are floating around about Robert Downey Jr. possibly showing up as Doctor Doom. Yeah, you heard that right!

First Steps will wrap up the MCU’s 2025 lineup, following Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World. While those movies stick to Earth, Fantastic Four dives headfirst into the Multiverse saga.

And guess what? This isn’t the last we’ll see of them. The crew is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday with the Russo brothers back in action. Filming kicks off in March.

Mark your calendars—The Fantastic Four: First Steps lands in theaters on July 25. Get ready for a wild ride!
