Is the Wimbledon Crowd Disrespecting Novak Djokovic During His Matches?

It was another show of talent from Novak Djokovic who breezed through to the quarter final round of Wimbledon. The 24-time grand slam champion was able to win the match in 2 hours and 10 minutes against Holger Rune with a straight set win of 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Nevertheless, the final win was in favor of Djokovic, but he was not happy with the fans’ actions.

Djokovic’s Post-Match Frustration

Some of the fans, during the match, were hooting and shouting “Ruuuuune” which is synonymous to booing. The Serbian tennis star in his post-match interview appreciated the respect shown to him by some of the fans but was not pleased with some of the fans.

He then directed his comments to the rest of the group, and said, “And to all those people who have decided to disrespect a player – in this case me – good night.

Clarifying the Chanting

Djokovic did not agree with the interviewer when the latter said that the fans were chanting Rune and not booing. ‘I don’t accept it. ’ ‘No. I know they were cheering for Rune, but that’s an excuse to also boo,’ he said.
