If you’re a Marvel fan, you’ve probably been dreaming of a Spider-Man and Daredevil crossover for ages. Both of these street-level heroes spend their time fighting bad guys in the same grimy corners of New York City, so it’s only natural to wonder when—if ever—we’ll see them team up in live-action.
A Little Easter Egg from Daredevil: Born Again
In the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again, there’s a scene that got everyone talking. Matt Murdock and Karen Page are hiding out on the outskirts of Red Hook Pier, chatting about taking down the big bads. In the background, you can hear a melody that sounds an awful lot like Michael Giacchino’s Spider-Man theme. Fans quickly picked up on this, and the Newton Brothers (who did the music) basically confirmed it with a cheeky raised-hands emoji on social media.
But here’s the catch: they deleted it almost immediately. Why? It’s anyone’s guess. Maybe Marvel wasn’t ready for people to read too much into it. Still, it got the internet buzzing with theories that maybe a Spider-Man and Daredevil crossover is in the works.
Scardapane Didn’t Know, Either

So, what does Daredevil showrunner Dario Scardapane think about this Easter egg? Well, turns out he was just as surprised as we were. He said he had no idea that the Spider-Man theme was being used, pointing out that Marvel likes to keep its plans pretty close to the chest. “I don’t really know what’s in store for that particular character,” he said.
Marvel’s secrecy is notorious, and it can catch even the people working on these shows off guard. So, while fans are excited about the possibility of Spider-Man swinging into Hell’s Kitchen, it doesn’t seem like it’s happening anytime soon.
The Legal Snag
And here’s the big roadblock. Even if Marvel wanted to make it happen, there’s a legal issue standing in the way. Spider-Man’s movie rights belong to Sony. Yep, that Sony. Which means it’s a huge challenge to bring him into Marvel’s TV shows like Daredevil: Born Again. It’s a complicated mess, and right now, the chances of them appearing together on screen are slim.
It’s not like it’s totally impossible—Kingpin has appeared in both Daredevil and Spider-Man films—but getting Spider-Man into the mix would be a huge logistical issue.
What’s Next for Spider-Man and Daredevil?

Could we eventually see a Spider-Man and Daredevil team-up? Well, it’s possible, but it’s not happening anytime soon. The MCU is huge and ever-expanding, so who knows? Maybe a Spider-Man cameo in something like Avengers: Secret Wars could make it happen. But for now, fans will have to be content with the little Easter eggs, nods, and references that Marvel loves to throw in.
It’s clear that while Spider-Man and Daredevil’s shared history is a huge deal in the comics, bringing them together on screen is a different ball game. Until then, we’ll keep hoping and watching out for those sneaky references. Who knows? The web-slinger and the Man Without Fear might just surprise us.
