Peacemaker is back — and this time, he might be fighting himself.
After a stellar debut in The Suicide Squad (2021), John Cena’s Peacemaker got his own HBO Max show in 2022, which turned out to be a huge hit. But a lot has changed since then. The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has ended, and James Gunn has rebooted the franchise into the new DC Universe (DCU), starting with Creature Commandos.
This raised one big question: How will Peacemaker, a DCEU character, move into the new DCU?
Peacemaker vs Peacemaker?

A recently released teaser for Peacemaker Season 2 might have answered that.
The final scene of the teaser shows John Cena’s Christopher Smith coming face-to-face with… another Christopher Smith. Yes, two Peacemakers on-screen. And fans instantly jumped to multiverse theories.
One fan wrote, “Okay, what if this is actually the DCU Peacemaker and that’s how our Peacemaker ends up in the DCU?” Another said, “What if at the end, Peacemaker kills Peacemaker and says, ‘Peacemaker, what a joke.’”
If that’s true, this could be James Gunn’s clever way of closing the DCEU chapter and launching Cena’s version of Peacemaker straight into the DCU.
Familiar Faces Return

Along with Cena, Season 2 brings back Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and more. The show continues to blend action, crude humor, and surprisingly emotional moments — and this new twist could raise the stakes even higher.
When and Where to Watch
Peacemaker Season 2 starts streaming August 21 on Max in the US. Whether this marks a full Peacemaker DCU transition or just a tease, fans are hyped.
