Eminem has once again taken his fans by a surprise with his new song titled “Tobey” out on July 2nd. The song is the second single from the album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” and it has guest appearances from Big Sean and BabyTron both from Michigan.
A Nod to Spider-Man
The song starts with a reference that is quite unexpected and is associated with the actor Tobey Maguire famous for his role in Spider-Man. Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider, but see, me, it was a goat. The line draws a parallel between Eminem being the goat and the spider that changed Peter Parker’s life.
Fan Reactions and Visuals
Audiences have warmly received the term “Tobey. ” The track’s video featuring comical references to the Spider-Man meme has been a bonus. The music video for “Tobey” is set to be released on the 5th of July while the album is set to be released on the 12th of July.
Previous Spider-Man Connection
The Spider-Man connection with Eminem is not new. He featured the song Venom in the 2018 movie Venom which is also in his Kamikaze album. This latest tribute to Tobey Maguire is another sign that Eminem is still having fun with the Spiderverse.
Building Anticipation
Eminem has managed to create a hype of his new album by placing a fake death announcement of Slim Shady in Detroit Free Press. This has only made fans wait for the album with bated breaths and wanting to know when the album will be released.
