Fans excited about a potential Spider-Man and Venom team-up might be disappointed after the new trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance. “Let’s look at what happened and how is it all of a sudden against the grain of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ ending.
Previously on Venom. . .
In the post-credits scene of “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and the Venom symbiote are moved to an exquisite hotel room in Earth-616 that is the primary MCU Earth. Whoever saw this scene was looking forward to the clash between Eddie Brock’s Venom and Peter Parker’s Spider-Man (Tom Holland). However, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” seemingly reversed this, with a end-credit scene of Eddie being sent back to his own world before he ever crossed paths with Spider-Man.
As fans of the movie, one can safely assume that a lot of dynamics are thrown our way that we, as mere audience, never saw coming.
The trailer for Venom : The Last Dance, shows a scene that is set in the MCU where Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character captures a piece of the Venom symbiote left behind. This goes against the storyline presented in “No Way Home” for saying the marker is still on earth-616.
So, what’s going on?
There are a few possibilities:
Retcon: The most extreme scenario is that “The Last Dance” just does not address the conclusion of “No Way Home”. While this possibility may be mentioned, it is a long-shot.
Multiverse Shenanigans: this complete and utter dismay leads me to wonder, maybe there is so much more to the multiverse than we ever could have imagined. Maybe Eddie went back to his home reality with a bar and a barmaid not very dissimilar to the one he met in his adventure.
Trailer Misdirection: Trailers are known to mislead viewers. It’s possible this scene is taken out of context or doesn’t play out exactly as it seems.
From all perspectives, what does this mean for Spider-Man 4?
It was reported earlier that Peter Parker could get his alien suit in Spider-Man 4. Given that the fragment of the symbiote is no longer in the MCU, this could be fiction.

The trailer also introduces audiences to Rhys Ifans who portrayed the Lizard in The Amazing Spiderman. The aspect of his involvement in the story is still unknown.
